The Talent Acquisition PortalĀ® (TAP) is led by the Council of State Administrators of Vocational Rehabilitation and The National Employment Team (NET) in partnership with disABLEDperson, Inc. TAP is an online system which includes both a national talent pool of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) or approved agency job seekers (candidates) looking for employment and a job posting system for businesses looking to hire individuals with disabilities.
TAP was developed in response to the need and demand of businesses who needed access to a centralized talent pool of individuals with disabilities, but who also needed the ability to connect to support at the local, state, and national level. Businesses with multi state footprints can benefit from posting jobs to one place that reaches across the country, and have one place to connect to support of the National Employment Team (The NET) who offer support services around disability employment.
Federal contractors (employers) and other employers in the public and private sector have a requirement or put in place efforts to hire individuals with disabilities. With that, the biggest question we always get is "Where do we find the talent to hire?"
By registering your agency and participating actively on TAP, you can assist your job seekers (candidates) with gainful employment opportunities. Employers are on TAP to find talent and hire from your agency!
TAP is built to allow agencies to track metrics, manage staff and support job seekers within the portal. The more job seekers an agency has in the portal, the more opportunities to invite employers and have employers reach out to the job seekers your agency serves.
Vocational Rehabilitation serves approximately one million individuals with disabilities per year, and has over 25,000 staff across 80 agencies in all 50 states and U.S. territories. VR offers the largest talent pool of candidates with disabilities in the United States.
Federal Contractors have a utlization goal of about 7% to hire individuals with disabilities. Other employers in both private and public sectors have mandates and or goals. Agencies have the talent, and by participating actively in the portal you provide opportunity to employers and job seekers to make the connection for employment outcomes.
With that, job seekers (candidates) through VR and other approved agencies that serve individuals with disabilites are in demand since employers are looking for the talented individuals you serve.
TAP is supported by the National Employment Team(The NET) which includes VR Business Consultants in every state, the territories and D.C. who can partner with employers and represent your agency to provide support services to employers at the national, state and local level.
There is nothing like the NET and TAP on the market. When employers come to us, they are looking for a strategy or plan that will assit them in reaching the compliance utilization goal or company goals.
Many companies we work with have a multi-state footprint and want to post jobs in one place to access all agencies. What makes the portal unique is that not only does it allow employers to meet data collection requirements, but it offers a team that can support them (the NET).
When you actively work with you job seekers and get the resume added to the system, you allow a company an opportunity to hire individuals with disabilities in a way that is conducive to the way they hire. Many companies post jobs, but do not have access to the support of the NET and the agencies. Many companies post jobs to targeted boards but cannot guarantee that they are reaching the targeted audience. With TAP, that all changes.
In the same way we look for committed employers, we also look for committed agencies. If you are a Vocational Rehabilitation agency or another agency that serves individuals with disabilities looking to get more involved with the portal, know there are many ways we can support you! We offer training videos, and other oportunities to keep you up to speed. At any time, feel free to contact us if you have questions!
